About the Analytival chemistry department
The analysis of pharmaceutical preparations is of utmost importance in the pharmaceutical industries, as the analysis aims to ensure the standard specifications of these preparations and to know the extent to which these preparations conform to the pharmacopoeia and thus preserve the patient’s health.Since the beginning of the twentieth century, the science of pharmaceutical analytical chemistry has witnessed rapid development. Therefore, it was necessary for the Faculty of Pharmacy, Beni Suef University, to keep pace with this tremendous and continuous development by developing curricula and study plans for the courses of the Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry and paying attention to practical training on them, as well as adding courses that are exposed to good pharmaceutical manufacturing methods. The study is not limited only to drug analysis, but also extends to environmental studies and analysis of food and cosmetics. The department provides devices and equipment that they are trained to use, and after that it becomes easy to absorb good pharmaceutical manufacturing methods and apply what they have learned in the arts of analyzing medicines, foods, and cosmetics. This is done either through the conventional system or through study programs based on credit hours.
The department offers master's and doctoral degrees in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, specializing in (analytical chemistry), and a diploma in drug control.
The department's mission aims to contribute to providing trained scientific cadres in the field of various analytical chemistry, and to qualify these cadres to keep pace with the rapid development witnessed by the science of pharmaceutical analytical chemistry at the local and global levels. The department is constantly working on providing the latest equipment and devices necessary to work in this field.
Department vision
Students gain distinguished studies in the fields of analysis, pharmaceutical and environmental analysis
Department message
Teaching students the basics of analytical chemistry by learning about the different methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis, which includes all standard and automated methods, and working to graduate generations capable of solving scientific and industrial problems.
In the research field, the department is developing new methods for quantitative analysis of drugs, whether in their pure form, in their pharmaceutical preparations, in the presence of their impurities, in the presence of their decomposition products, or in biological fluids such as plasma and urine. The department also studies the stability of some medicines and analyzes them using advanced methods without the interference of their degradation products
