Introduction to the program


Degree you are considering for graduates:
The University Council granted an application to the Faculty of Pharmacy Board for Pharm D for credit hours.

Higher academic degrees:
The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is the first university degree in the field of pharmacy required to obtain a license to practice the profession in all available fishing fields. It also qualifies the graduate to participate in failure in any of the scientific departments in the college.

Language of study:
Study in the program is in English. However, it is permissible to teach some courses in the Arabic language based on the recommendation of the relevant scientific department and the approval of the college and university councils.

Requirements for obtaining the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree:
Obtaining a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree according to the credit hour system or its equivalent requires the following:

First: Studying and passing the number of credit hours is 175 credit hours distributed over ten semesters. The college’s compulsory requirements include 167 credit hours (course distribution table) and the college’s elective requirements represent 8 credit hours, provided that the cumulative average is not less than 1.

Second: Passing a first field training period with a total of 100 hours of actual training in private, government, and hospital pharmacies approved by the College Council, under the supervision of a faculty member. The training takes place during the summer vacations of the study years after the end of the third level and completing the internship year (academic year - 9). (months) after completing the years of study, according to the detailed regulations for the internship program, which includes a graduation project in one of the specializations offered.

Third: Passing whatever requirements the university may decide for graduation, provided that they are not included in calculating the student’s semester or cumulative average.

Duration of study:
The duration of study in the program is five academic years, five levels (over ten semesters) according to the credit hour system, and one year of advanced training (excellence) in the workplace (1+5). In addition to 100 hours of actual field training in private, government, and hospital pharmacies, it takes place during the summer vacations of the study years after the end of the third level and before starting the internship year.
Each academic year level is divided into two semesters (fall and spring) and the duration of each semester is fifteen weeks. Some courses may be offered in a summer semester lasting six to eight weeks of intensive study. The credit hour is a unit of academic measurement and is equivalent to a weekly theoretical hour of study or a practical lesson of no less than two hours per week, taught over the course of one semester.

Course design:
The study program is designed so that learning takes place through theoretical lectures, panel discussions, practical lessons, workshops, field exercises, conducting research and giving presentations, in addition to cooperation with the community surrounding the university. The study program is designed so that:

First: The number of credit hours is not more than 175 credit hours and not less than 170 credit hours, in addition to the university requirements, with a maximum of 6 credit hours.
 
Second: The number of elective courses should not be less than four courses (8 credit hours) chosen from the list determined by the college. This is in addition to 100 hours of actual summer training that begins at the end of the third level and before the start of the internship year.

Third: The colleges set the specifications and content of the courses (course description & content) through the scientific departments, and the sector committee forms committees of specialized experts to review the regulations and ensure that they meet the graduate’s specifications.

Fourth: The college can make changes by deletion or addition in the proposed courses by no more than 15% and in a way that does not cause an increase in the total number of credit hours scheduled for graduation (175 credit hours) and no less than 170 credit hours in addition to the university’s requirements with a maximum of 6 credit hours, in a way that maintains On achieving the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) 2017

Fifth: The college can make amendments by deletion and addition to the course descriptions of no more than 20% of the scientific content of the course, in a way that achieves the necessary addition and updating.
 
Sixth: Elective courses for the student in the other two levels, in order to achieve his competencies and skills that will help him towards professional orientation and specialization. One of the elective courses must be in one of the clinical pharmaceutical fields.
